Coulter Farms LLC

Coulter Farms LLC is the operating vehicle to continue the fourth generation of  Coulter family farm owners.  Dave Coulter and Jeff Hall are the proprieters.

Deb Ganshaw leads our Farm Market and Julie Harrison leads our U-Pick operations. 

Our mission is to supply our customers with fresh produce of  high quality at a good value. We also want to provide opportunities for people to learn about farmers who provide critical skills to feed us all and are custodian of our earth

Our Business

Coulter Farms is actively farming about 100 acres of fruits and vegetables in the town of Cambria.  The land we own and rent features a variety of glacial soils from gravel to sand to clay. We attempt to match soil and crops to produce crops for local markets.

We are a relatively small farm in a market dominated by large farms and enterprises.  We believe our size allows personal attention to our crops and to our customers

Coulter Farms: who we are and how we got here:

Willis Coulter bought the family homestead in 1889.  His son Alvin (Scoots) lived his entire life in the homestead, most of it with his wife Jenny Hall Coulter. Alvin's farm was initially powered by horses and featured a full range of animals and crops.  Alvin's son Roger bought the SInsel farm next door in the 1950's. Roger expanded the sweet cherry orchards and introduced U-pick Raspberries.  Grandson David started strawberries in 1961 and slowly expanded into U-pick in the late 1960's. David operated the farm during his college years. He acquired Roger's farm in the 1990's.

Alvin retired in the mid 1960's and his sons Roger and Jim and grandson David maintained the farms via long distance farming until Jim returned to in 1978 with his wife Shirley. Jim set the course for the current range of farm produce expanding the Farm Market snd wholesale businesses.

Jeff Hall, son of Jim's first cousin Burt Hall,  joined the farm team in 1980.

 Jim's son, Dave,  retired from Kodak and moved to the farm full time in June 2009 shortly after Jim passed away.

Jeff Hall and Dave Coulter are now the proprietors of Coulter Farms LLC.
